HAJIPUR: The Vaishali police have pressed the Special Task Force (STF) of district police into action to arrest the Hajipur sitting BJP MLA Nityanand Rai.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal"><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">HAJIPUR: Following the cancellation of bail of the Hajipur sitting BJP MLA Nityanand Rai by the Supreme Court, the Vaishali police have not only pressed the Special Task Force (STF) of district police into action to arrest the fugitive MLA, but also sent a police team to New Delhi and other possible places to locate the MLA.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">Rai is one of the accused in the murder case of Ram Devan Rai and Dileep Rai, the former was brother of RJD MLC Bishundeo Rai.

Besides Nityanand Rai, Rajendra Rai, former state minister for science and technology, is also a named accused, and is on bail.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">It is learnt from sources in district BJP that Rai was planning to appeal to the Supreme Court of India to get bail. Despite frequent attempts, the MLA could not be contacted. Close sources of MLA said that he was not in the state.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">Speaking to TNN on Monday, Vaishali SP H N Deva said STF has been pressed into action to arrest the fugitive MLA and he would be arrested soon as the intelligence sources are about to locate his whereabouts.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">According to sources, Rai fled away to Gujarat and from there to MP after his bail was cancelled.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">"He remained in hideout at Gujarat for a few weeks and then moved to Madhya Pradesh," disclosed a senior police officer.</span><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">"The most interesting fact is that the Vaishali district police have not received the court''s order of Rai''s bail cancellation till date," disclosed police sources.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">SP said he will move to local court to procure Rai''s warrant of arrest if required. </span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="">"Rai is likely to file an appeal petition to SC on July 8 in New Delhi," said a political source.</span></div> </div>
